Paint-Out at Abalone Cove - September 22, 2016

Abalone Cove - September 22, 2016

The park opens at 9:00, and closes at 4:00. Parking is free for seniors 62 and over, otherwise, you might want to carpool, as it is $12 for more than two hours. The great thing about painting here is that you can stay in one spot, and let the sun do the moving for you. Come early, bring a lunch, water, and sunscreen.

Come and Paint at Ballona Wetlands - Correction!! -Saturday, May 7th

We got an invite from Paula Brown and its for May 7th, not April 30th!

I am going to go over to Ballona Wetlands to do some painting on Saturday AM for their first Saturday of the month open to the public access day. They open at 9AM and I think close at around noonish...maybe a bit later. I usually docent work with them, but I am going to paint instead!
This is a small area, some good views: old wooden train trestles at a platform to paint from as well as some wetland canal stuff.
If anyone wants to come, feel free to pass this note along...I will be there at 9AM at the sign in desk.
Cheers!
Paula

Madrona Marsh Paintout - Saturday, March 26th

This coming Saturday, the 26th, we will be having our first paintout of the year at Madrona Marsh from 12:00 to 4:00. The marsh is at its best right now, with lots of water, and spring growth, including wildflowers. Park in the lot across from the entrance at Plaza Del Amo. I have included a map to give you an idea of where to go, although there are other nice areas, if you wish to explore before you start painting.. Please be advised that a few areas will be closed off so that the resident wildlife can breed in peace.

Don't forget, bring a hat, sunscreen, water, something to sit on, and maybe somehing to eat. The marsh is open at 10:00, if you wish to come early, and the gates are locked at 5:00.

It should be a nice day, hope to see you out there!

Best regards,

David Wolfram

Paint -in at Joslyn Center - November 4, 2014

Our next PSSC Paint-In is on Tuesday, November 4, from 9:30 - 1:30 at the Joslyn Center in Manhattan Beach.  Please let me know if you are able to attend.  Bring your easel, a table/floor covering, your pastels, and a project or two.  Lunch?

The cost is $5, which is a nominal amount because PSSC is subsidizing us.  We paint till around 1:00 and then have a critique, which is quite helpful to all. I wanted to make sure that Fran could make it to the paint-in so I have changed the date to November 4th.

Those of you have not been attending, please let me know if a change of venue would be attractive to you; it would be in the Torrance area.

Thanks,  Suzanne Kuuskmae

Our next paint-in will be at the Joslyn Center, Manhattan Beach, on Tuesday, September 23. Bring your easel, floor/table covering, pastels, $5, and lunch/snack for our monthly paint-in together.  It is possible to paint outside as well.  We are lucky to have Fran Nichols (and sometimes Dave Wolfram) to give us a few pointers as we progress with our painting; a critique comes at the end of the session.  Let me know if you can make it as space is limited.

Arlington Gardens Paint-Out - April 2014

Dear Plein Air Enthusiasts -

Our April 10th paint-out location has been changed to Arlington Gardens, 295 Arlington Drive, Pasadena, CA  91105.

Spring is in the air in the San Gabriel Valley, and there is no other sublime place to paint it than at the Arlington Gardens.  The Arlington is a community garden designed and maintained in partnership with the City of Pasadena.  It is free and open to the public every day of the year, 24 hours a day.

As described in their Website www.arlingtongardeninpasadena.org  the Arlington is comprised of an "Italian style olive allee, numerous succulent and cactus gardens, an Arroyo Seco like pathway flanked by sycamores leading to a vernal pool, orange grove laid out in grids like historical California orange groves, paths and benches set throughout plant communities, and surprises around every corner."

You won't be disappointed!  Please plan on meeting at 9:30 AM at the southwestern corner of the Garden.  Please email me if you are planning on attending or if you have questions or need directions.

Hope to see you there,
Rose Ash
