The Thomas fire, which started on the evening of December 4th is now the largest in California history. The first phase of the Thomas Fire Artist Recovery Fund was to gather information about the impact the fire had on our creative communities. The second phase of the Thomas Fire Artist Recovery Fund will include a matched fundraising campaign led by the Carolyn Glasoe Bailey Foundation, with a public program of free and ticketed events, as well as an art exhibition hosted by the Porch Gallery Ojai featuring artworks donated to benefit the Fund.
As of January 1, 2018, The Thomas Fire Artist Recovery Fund had received 15 requests for support from artists that have been severely impacted by the Thomas Fire, half of whom have lost either their home or studio, or both. The Carolyn Glasoe Bailey Foundation and Porch Gallery Ojai plan to raise over $30,000 in order to offer unrestricted gifts of $5,000, $2,500, and $500, to these artists, depending on need.
